Margaret Helen Cox

Margaret Helen Cox

Died peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on December 31, 2014, age 92 years.
Born in Morell, P.E.I., on December 7, 1922, the eldest daughter of Lloyd Sutherland Cox and Mary Willena (MacSwain) Cox. Survived by her loving sister Lois (Alan) Snelgrove of Connecticut and was predeceased by her brothers Dr. Lloyd Cox Jr. (Esther), David Cox (Nancy) and Donald Cox (Irene).
Helen was for a time a schoolteacher in Morell and taught some of her siblings in a one-room schoolhouse. She spent a short time working in Toronto, but her heart always belonged in beloved P.E.I., where she was close to family. Helen was a revered long time Manager of Eastern Provincial Airlines and saw the first jet come to P.E.I. Her most treasured role for many years was as a loving daughter and dedicated companion and caregiver to her widowed mother. Those who were fortunate to know her will always remember her deep love, generosity, kindness and selfless dedication in that role.
Left to cherish the wonderful memory of a very special aunt are her many nieces and nephews and their families whom she always took great pride and interest in. They are Heather Diamond, Carolyn Cox Matejcek (Jan), Susan Cox Russell (Greg), Janet Ditmore (Steve), Judy Phillips (Larry), Steven Snelgrove (Joyce), Helen Quinn (Jim), Geoffrey Snelgrove (Polly), David  (Sharon), Cynthia, Sharon, Pam and Sandra Cox, Lynn Grafton (Rick), Brian (Christine), Jeff and Greg Cox and her twenty nine grand nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation at this time. A memorial service will be held from MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 1 p.m. A celebration of Helen’s life and the interment at the Marie Cemetery will take place at a later date this summer.
If so desired, memorials to Marie Cemetery would be appreciated.
