PHALEN, DOUGLAS - Douglas William Phalen of Moncton passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on January 1st, 2015 at the age of 91. Born in Moncton, NB, August 15, 1923, he was the son of the late Percy and Leita Phalen. Douglas is survived by his loving wife Renee (Geere) Phalen of 68 years, daughter Sandra, sister Pauline, granddaughter Samantha and his nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, Douglas was predeceased by his daughter Leslie, sisters; Doris, Eileen, Verona, Norma, Catherine “Kay” and his brother Max. Doug was a veteran of the Second World War and upon his discharge, was employed by CN Rail for 39 years.
In keeping with Douglas’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. A private graveside will take place at a later date in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Douglas’s memory may be made to the Moncton SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.
