Wall-Gay Eileen Wall passed away peacefully on December 24, 2014 at the Cypress Regional Hospital after a 20 year battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She left in time to join her husband of 48 years, John, and their infant son Raymond Donald for a Christmas celebration. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children; Jason (Rachelle), Laurie (Mark) and Jeff (Lisa), eight grandchildren; Morgan, Parker, Jackson, and Katana, Hayden, Kerri, Dakota and Katie. She is also survived by her brother Art (Sue), sisters-in-law Joanne, Leona and Ardis and brothers-in-law Vic, Les (Donna), and Ralph (Elaine). Gay is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom brought great joy to her life. Gay was predeceased her parents Alfred and Sina Hovdestad; her parents-in-law Peter J. and Sara Wall (Peters); brothers, Jim, Roy, Ivan and Bruce; sisters, Solveig, Alma, Rose and Elsie; brothers-in-law, Ed Saxton, Paul Redmond, Sig Olson, David Wall (Betty), Alvin Wall; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth, Helen, Mardi, Iris and JoAnn. Gay was born in Stewart Valley, SK on May 16, 1942. She attended Hovdestad School until she struck out on her own to attend Marvel Beauty School in Saskatoon. She married John on August 19, 1961, and gladly took on the role of raising their family. Gay had a flair for creativity, which was evidenced in knitting, crocheting, petit point, sketching and painting. She was also a bit of a technology buff, amazing her grandchildren with her skills on computers and other gaming systems. In 1985 she went back to school to get her GED and Office Administration Certification and put all those talents into being a dedicated secretary within the Swift Current District School board, touching the lives of many staff and students. Upon her retirement, Gay continued to focus on her family and giving back to her community. She was very involved with the Swift Current Duplicate Bridge Club, Good Sams, the First United Church, the Swift Current NDP and the Swift Current "Meals on Wheels" program. Those that enjoyed Gay's company will remember her as a proud, kind and generous woman, dedicated to her family and friends. She will be missed in many different ways by all who knew her. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at First United Church with the Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Ushers were Tanya and Peter McLachlin and Greg and Kathy King. Gay will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Warren's Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
