Nora Katherine Westgard (née Walter) passed away on Thursday, January 1st, 2015 at Providence Place in Moose Jaw, SK at the age of 95 years, surrounded by her family. Nora was born in the Dryborough Lake District to John and Christina Walter on March 28th, 1919. In 1937, she married Clarence Benjamin Westgard, lived on a farm for a while and then moved to Ormiston where she resided until 1993 when she moved to Moose Jaw with her brother Adam, who had lived with Nora and Slim for 37 years. Following Adam’s passing, Nora lived in various places until she moved to Providence Place in January 2011 and she resided there until her passing. Nora was active in the Ormiston Lutheran Ladies Aid, Ormiston Ladies Club, Ormiston Curling Club, Ormiston and Crane Valley Seniors Club, Moose Jaw Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She loved curling, baseball, fishing, playing cards, crocheting, knitting, ceramics, going to horse shows and collecting salt and pepper shakers (over 500 pairs), and she loved watching her children and grandchildren at various sporting and school events. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Christina; husband of 50 years, Clarence (Slim); son, Richard; brothers: Louie, John and Adam; sisters, Mary Duzan and Irene Nesvold; sisters and brothers-in-law: Winfield Duzan and Melvin Nesvold, Art and Mary Westgard, Olaf and Eva Westgard, Joe and Bertha Liefso, Agnes Wernham, Ted and Irene Watermanuk, and Mabel Schick. Nora is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Larry) Neuman; son, LeRoy Pete Westgard; daughter-in-law, Loretta Westgard; brother, Gordon (Doreen) Walter; brother-in-law, Alfred Schick; grandchildren: Tana (Grant) Mcnutt, Dwayne (Carrie) Westgard, Robin Neuman, Scott (Amy) Neuman, Maura Westgard and Patrick Westgard; great-grandchildren: Joshua (Lauren), Paul (Karissa), Benjamin and Matthew (Sarah) Mcnutt, Tyson (April) and Reece Westgard, Elise and Evan Neuman; great-great-grandchildren: Amelia, Isaac, Lily, Kayson and Rhett Mcnutt. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 9th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 15 Paul Drive, Moose Jaw, SK. Reverend John Kreutzwieser will officiate and interment will take place in Ormiston Cemetery at a later date. Thank you to the staff of the Guardian Grove and St. Anthony’s wards at Providence Place for their wonderful care of our Mom. Truly you are angels without wings and may God bless each and every one of you. Flowers are gratefully declined.
