Vincent Bulmer

BULMER, VINCENT "VINCE" J. - 1928 – 2015 - It is with very sad hearts we announce the death of Vince at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, January 5, 2015, at the age of 86. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Carrie (Mullins) and George Bulmer. He was employed with CNR at the age of 16 for over 39 years, when he retired at 55. This gave his son, Kevin, employment with CNR, where he also stayed until retiring at 55 years old. Vince was a workaholic, with valuable dedicated service to CN. He wouldn’t miss going out on a train derailment no matter how tired he was. He loved his work. He held the position of Executive Officer and was President of Local 967 from 1961 – 1962. Also, Brotherhood Railway Carman 1984. He also was a member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and won an Award for a First Aid Competition. He was proud that his daughter, Debby, was also interested in First Aid and became an Instructor. He was a Carman helper, then a Carman and Welder, heavy equipment operator and also drove a truck for Atlantic Wholesalers. In summer, he dug basements and landscaping. In winter, he snow plowed private driveways. He did all his own home repair jobs. There was nothing he could not do. He loved to work. He tore down a large house with the help of his old cockshuttle tractor and made a beautiful property to retire in. He didn’t let a prosthetic leg stop him. He loved to fish, but loved hunting better. He never missed a season and seldom missed the deer. He enjoyed going to festivals and music. He followed his son, Doug and wife Lenore, wherever they played and sang. He will so be missed by his wife Belle (Duke), who was his constant companion for 64+ years in work or play. Also, by his six wonderful children and spouses, Doug (Lenore), Debby (Mike), Greg (Cathy), Kevin, Shelley (late George Georgoudis) and Dale; brother, Edwin; many nieces, nephews and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Aubrey, Reg and Jim.
At Vince’s request, there will be no visitation hours or funeral service. He will rest in Elmwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Nurses and Staff of 4600 Unit at The Moncton Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Vince. Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of arrangements.
