Helen Doreen Simpson
September 29, 1922 – December 31, 2014
Helen passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 31, 2014 at Good Shepherd Villa, Prince Albert, SK at the age of 92 years. Helen was born to Thomas and Martha Power on September 29, 1922 in Dinsmore, SK. The family moved to Weldon Ferry, SK where Helen grew up and went to school. When the Second World War was declared Helen enlisted in the Army. It was in the Army that Helen met her future husband Arthur Simpson. When the war ended, Helen and Art married and moved to Regina where Art had a job with the Coop. Their daughter Maureen was born in Regina. While living in Vermillion, AB they were able to adopt their son Gordon. They settled in Weyburn, SK where they raised their family and participated in community organizations. When Art retired, they moved to Emma Lake and spent seventeen happy years in their lake home. They eventually moved into a condo in Prince Albert where they spent many years entertaining family and friends. When it became necessary for Arthur to enter a nursing home, Helen decided to move to Good Shepherd Villa. Helen will be remembered by her daughter: Maureen Simpson; grandchildren: Lance Davis and Catherine Davis; her son: Gordon Simpson and his wife Lois and grandchildren Dallas Simpson and Leah Simpson (Kent Hodgson) and great-grandson: Jace; her sister: June Clarke and brother-in-law Laurie Simpson, her sister-in-law Marg Power, her brother-in-law Gordon Cousins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband: Arthur; her parents: Thomas and Martha Power; her sisters: Mae Digby and Val Fowlie; her brothers: James Power, Desmond Power and William Power; her mother and father-in-law: Bertha and Robert Simpson; her brothers-in-law: Floyd Digby, Pete Fowlie, Robbie Simpson and Stephen Clarke. A Funeral Service will be held at MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St East, Prince Albert, SK on January 9, 2015 at 1:30 pm. An Interment for both Helen and Art will take place at a later date.
