It is with great sadness that we the family of Willard Joseph Young announce the passing of our dear father, husband, friend and "Papa" on Jan. 7, 2015, with his loving family by his side.
Willard was born in Alder Point, N.S., he was the son of the late Henry and Thelma (LeBlanc) Young.
Willard (Val) was a family man who loved his grandchildren more than the world and everyone around him knew this! He loved to spend his evenings at the wharf chatting, having a coffee and fishing! He always looked forward to His Sunday "barn day" with whoever wanted to stop in for a beer and chat! He is going to be deeply missed by so many!
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Bev Young, his two sons and best friends Billy (Tia) and Shane (Cindy), his pride and joy and only daughter Chastity (Michael), his grandson Steven and eight granddaughters, Haley, Katelyn, Brittney, Jessie, Emily, Madison, Kylie and Abby, his sisters, Rita (George), Josephine (John), Darlene, Noel (Brian), Annie Ethel, and Marie, his brothers, Bernie (Bev), Brian (Donna) and Henry (Janie), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Willard was predeceased by his brothers Steven, Wally and Joseph.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Northside General Hospital for the kindness and compassion they showed us during such a difficult time, it will never be forgotten!
Cremation has been taken place, there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time per his request, a private family burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bras d’Or in the spring.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
