RICHFORD, DUGALD - Passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at the Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick on January 8th 2015, with his loving family by his side. Dugald Richford, born July 7th, 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland, son of the late Donald and Isabella (Ramsey) Richford. Dugald immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his wife and young family, first settling in Saskatchewan and later moving to New Brunswick becoming a long term resident of Fredericton. A retired provincial civil servant, Dugald was known for his love of family, as well as for his keen involvement in many organizations. He was a member of the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew’s, Fredericton Lawn Bowling Club, The Royal Canadian Legion Fredericton Branch No.4, working on the Poppy Fund for many years. In addition, he was a life time member of the New Brunswick Scottish Cultural Association. Dugald was predeceased by his sister Margaret (Donald) Richford and Isabel (John) Wallace. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Isabella (Robertson Knight), his brother James (Margaret); three sons, Brian (Bea) of Moncton, NB, Colin (Lynn) of Mazerolle Settlement, NB and Keith (Shelley) of Campbell River, BC; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Hicks, Jamie Richford (Jolene), Will Richford (Amy), Andrew and Kelsey; 6 great grandchildren, Isabella, Olivia, Hannah Hicks; Skyla, Jayden Richford; and Aubree Richford.
A service will be held on Sunday January 11th, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 512 Charlotte St, Fredericton, New Brunswick with Rev. Doug Blaikie officiating. A reception to follow at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donation to the DECH palliative care unit, Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
