The death occurred at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Friday, Jan. 9, of Ruby I (Banks) Smith, aged 93 years. Beloved wife of the late Erving Smith (1999) and daughter of the late Ira and Alice (Henderson) Banks. Dearly loved mother to Ira (Estelle) Smith, Freeland; Matt Smith (Debbie MacMurdo), Charlottetown; and Susan Porter (Graham), East Lawrencetown, N.S. Loving grandmother to Eric and Alex. Ruby is also survived by brothers Kenny (Verna) Banks, Alberton and Earle Banks, Summerside, and sister-in-law Freda Banks, Charlottetown. Predeceased by her husband (1999) and by brothers Bob, Sterling, Stewart, Cody and Byron Banks. Resting at Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel with visiting hours Monday, Jan. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Freeland Presbyterian Church. Interment in Freeland Presbyterian Cemetery. Family flowers only, in memory of Ruby, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society or Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
