Passed away on Dec. 27, 2014, Honora (Scanlon) Newcombe of Bartlett’s Harbour, in her 89th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories brothers John (Effie) Scanlon, and Joseph (Marian) Scanlon; sisters Susanne Thynne, Florence Johnson and Rita Offery; and special niece Honora (Carter) Taylor. Also grieving her death while holding fond memories of her life in their hearts, are a wide circle of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John, parents Joseph and Mary Ann Scanlon and brothers Elias and Jerry. Visitation took place at Sacred Heart Church in Bartlett’s Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31 with Fr. Britto officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
