It is with great sadness that the family of the late Beatrice Oke announce her passing on Sunday, January 11th, 2015 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit at the age of 90 years. She was surrounded by her loving family. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband Edward, and she found comfort in the past weeks knowing that he is waiting for her to join him in heaven. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories their family together - children: Edward Jr. (Glady), Madonna (Gerry), Gary (Lizanne), Wayne (Viola), Brenda (Kevin), and Terry (Pennie), grandchildren: Craig, Bryan (Susan), Krista (Craig), Jennifer (Andrew), Crystal (Steve), Heather (Jon), Ricki, Alicia, and Hailey; great-grandchildren: Connor, Spencer, Sydney, Hope, Faith, and Joshua; Beatrice's daughter: Vera Sharpe(nee Gosse); granddaughter: Marlene Adams (Clyde); great-grandchildren: Joanne (Jerry), Justin (Jillian), great-great-grandchildren: Rebecca and Devon; sisters: Hazel Meade and Nora Dever(Herman); a very special lifetime friend of both our parents, Joseph "Dukie" Noftall, very near and dear to our Mom's heart, Joan Anstey (Gord); brothers and sisters-in-law: Alice, Robert, and Roy; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, including David Oke (Marg) and Clyde Dominie (Rosalind )who always had a special bond and kept continuous contact with our mom for many years, and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by parents: Horatio and Elizabeth Walters; grand-daughter-in-law: Sandra; brother: Wilson; and sisters: Bertha Dominie and Gladys Cramm. The family would like to say a very special thank you to Dr. Tim Griffin for his very special care to both our parents , he was more than a doctor to them; the palliative care doctors: Dr. Dunne, Dr. Lafferty, Dr. Henry and Dr. Ball, and to all the special nursing angels who took exceptional care of her every day. We are forever grateful for all you have done for our mom and our family. Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Tuesday January 13th, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14th at 2:00 PM from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist with the Very Reverend Baxter Park and Archbishop Stewart Payne officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
