Passed on: January 12th, 2015

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Glenn Jabez Crowdis. Warmed by his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs blanket, Glenn peacefully passed surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters on Jan. 12, 2015.
Glenn was born in Inverness on Dec. 9, 1951 to the late George and Olive (née Burton) Crowdis of Margaree Valley.
Throughout his life, Glenn was passionate about sports. He played several sports during his time at Nova Scotia Eastern Institute of Technology where he was awarded athlete of the year in 1974.
Glenn also enjoyed woodworking and carpentry, and he used these skills to build a house in Mira where he lived with his family for 16 years.
Glenn worked at Maritime Tel&Tel for 22 years until illness forced him into early retirement. Throughout his illness, Glenn remained friends with his teammates (Louisbourg Aces and Old Buoys), workmates and school friends, and enjoyed it immensely when they visited him.
A devoted father and husband, Glenn passed his love of sports to his daughters and spent countless hours practicing volleyball and hockey with them. Glenn set a strong example of how to live with strength, dignity, and humour in the face of adversity. We consider ourselves extremely lucky that Glenn Crowdis was our father and husband.
Besides his parents, Glenn was predeceased by his sister Gwendolyn Guillena.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Valerie; daughters, Jeanne (Daniel) and Lori-Beth (Chris); grandsons, Kinnon Glenn and Bennett; brother George (Tim); sister-in-law Dawn Mackeigan; brothers-in-law, Bruce MacKeigan and Joe Guillena, and beloved nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan.14, 2015, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 1-3 p.m. with memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
