The death occurred on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Summerset Manor, Summerside, of Jean Rhoda Gard, aged 96 years, formerly of Unionvale. Born in East Chester, N.S., on September 26, 1918, daughter of the late William and Ella (Zinck) Hume. Loving mother to daughters-in-law Betty Fleet, Mahone Bay, N.S., and Dolly Fleet Langille, Chester, N.S. Dear grandmother to Gail (Todd) Hatt, Western Shore, N.S.; Louanne Rhuland, East Chester, N.S.; granddaughter-in-law Debbie Fleet, East River Point, N.S.; great-grandchildren Tara, Brandon, Ashley, Courtney, Chad, and great-great-grandchildren Keaton, Kaleb, Bella, Jude and Kylie. She is also survived by her sister Golda Moland, Timberley, N.S. Predeceased by her first husband Harold Maurice Fleet (1958), second husband Ralph Gard (2002), sons Maurice and Douglas, grandson Harold D., brother Gordon Hume and sister Alice. Resting at Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O'Leary, with visiting hours on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 12 until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m. in the Chapel.
