Born In: Creignish Rear Inverness Co.

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: January 13th, 2015

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Mary Sarah 'Sadie' McPhee, announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 at The Cove Guest Home, after a long and rewarding life.
Born in Creignish Rear, Inverness County, Mom was the daughter of the late Donald and Margaret (MacDonald) MacDonald and the wife of the late Billie McPhee, well know Cape Breton fiddler. Sadie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mom was a person of strong faith and was a longtime member of Saint Anthony Daniel Parish. Religion and prayer were an integral part of her life. She was a long time member of the Gaelic Society and enjoyed many Scottish concerts and ceilidhs around Cape Breton Island. Mom was a very gentle lady who loved and will be missed by all her dear friends and family. We will certainly miss our visits and our many telephone calls.
Mom loved to bake and would often be found baking her famous meat pies and tea biscuits for her family and friends.
Left to mourn are her children, Donnie (Linda), Anne MacDonald, Hughena MacIntyre, Lincoln (Carol), Wilma (Tom Pyke), Ray (Janet) and son-in-law, Paul Dickson. “Gramma” will be missed and fondly remembered by her 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Mary and Rita MacDonald, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her dear friend Betty Muise.
Mom was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Billie (2000); daughter, Kay Dickson (2010); son-in-law, Angus MacDonald (2007); her siblings, Margaret, Mary, Mary Anne, Dougall, John Dan, John Angus, Donald, Michael, Catherine and four in infancy.
Visitation for the late Sadie McPhee will take place on Friday, Jan. 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Marquerite Bourgeoys Church with Rev. Bill Burke officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
