The death occurred at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, of John "Edward" MacMillian of Park Hill Place, Summerside, formerly of Freetown, aged 89 years, husband of the late Velda (Morrison) MacMillian. Born in West Cape on April 29, 1925, son of the late Roy Stewart and Annie (MacPhee) MacMillan. Loving father to Calvin, Freetown; Barbara (James) MacMurdo, North Bedeque; Sandra (Donald) Paynter, Kensington; Elwood (Janet), Margate; Sheila (Wesley) Craswell, South Rustico; Leila (Peter) Thompson, Kensington; Gordon (Leisa), Kensington; Bernadette (Brent) Kelly, Kinkora; Donna MacMillan, Summerside; Diane MacMillan, Summerside; and son-in-law Carl Craswell. Dear grandfather to 27 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Edward is also survived by sisters Ferne Carruthers, Howlan, and Jeanette Baglole, New Annan; special niece Freda Frizzell, and special nephew Garfield MacMillan. Predeceased by his parents, wife Velda, daughter Lila Craswell, daughter-in-law Adele MacMillian, granddaughters Holly MacMurdo and Amylynn MacMillan, great-granddaughters Courtney Elizabeth Perry and Kenley Adams-MacInnis, brother Albert, sisters Gladys MacMillan and Isabel Easter. Resting at Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O'Leary, with visiting hours Friday, Jan. 16, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral will be held Saturday in the chapel at 3 p.m. Interment will follow in Bethel United Cemetery. In memory of Edward, memorials to the Bethel United Cemetery or Children's Wish Foundation would be appreciated.
