The family would like to thank the amazing staff of St. Clare's Hospital, the Health Sciences Centre and Caribou Memorial Veteran's Pavilion. Special consideration goes to his niece Cathy Grandy and to Mercedes Halley for all their care and attention to Dad in his later years. We couldn't have done it without you! He also leaves behind the memories of good times with his nieces and nephews, the Breens in Ontario, the Batt's of Corner Brook and the Kelly's of Tickle Cove and King's Cove, Bonavista Bay as well as all his comrades and friends of the Royal Canadian Legion and his many friends in the Newfoundland music community. Dad was a Korean War veteran serving with the Royal Canadian Regiment during the conflict. He also served with the Ottawa Police upon his return from duty. Dad was well known for his sultry baritone voice and loved the Newfoundland and Labrador folk idiom. His voice could be heard on radio and television accompanied by the sounds of Ray Walsh's accordion or Doc Abbott's organ or during the CBC Radio Show "The Chronicles of Uncle Mose" with Ted Russell. During his life, he also worked with CN Telegraph, and in Real Estate. But his real love of work eventually came from one of his hobbies that led him to become one of this Province's leaders and pioneers in the mining and exploration industry as well as a proud honorary member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. At Dad's request, cremation has taken place. Visitation at Caul's Funeral Home, Lemarchant Rd. Sunday & Monday, Jan 18th & 19th 12-5pm & 6-9pm. "But come you back when summer's in the meadow, or when the valley's hushed and white with snow.
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow...
Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, I love you so...."
