Audrey Cameron

Cameron, Audrey Ivy Eliza (Palmer) - The death of our “Mom,” formerly of Caledonia and Jubilee Park, Stellarton, and most recently of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow occurred Jan. 16, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit at the age of 94.
Born in Lower Caledonia on Sept. 21, 1920, she was a daughter of the late David and Minnie (George) Palmer.
Audrey grew up in Lower Caledonia and later met Donald E. and eventually settled in Caledonia, making that their home for 60 years.
Audrey spent her days busy raising their 10 children with the attitude of “what’s one more?” when anyone came to stay.
She spent many years assisting our dad with the family farm and later, the family forestry business where she cooked in the camp and was office manager.
Audrey was very active in the community with her church, school and community hall events.
Mom was a true believer in “what will be, will be” and “busy hands are happy hands."
Audrey enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting.
She also enjoyed camping, spending time in her home in Florida, reading and a good competitive game of cards.
She is survived by her children, Harold (Elaine), Caledonia; Eleanor (Richard) Holmes, Edmonton, AB; Judy (Fraser) MacDonald, SunnyBrae; Hector (Marilyn), Rimby, AB; Ronnie (Janice), MacLellan’s Brook; Susan (Philip) Cameron, MacPherson’s Mills; Cathy (Craig) Langille, Antigonish; 32 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Kaye Sharpe, SunnyBrae; daughters-in-law Diane, Phyllis and Helen Cameron, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald E. Cameron, sons Donald and Wayne, a daughter Leona Cameron, son-in-law Clarence, a brother Geordie Palmer, and a sister, Evelyn Sharpe.
Her remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday from where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Jeff Lackie presiding.
Burial will take place in the Bethel Cemetery, Caledonia.
Donations in memory of Audrey may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
