It is with great sadness that the family wish to announce the peaceful passing of our father James Alexander 'Jimmy' Doyle on Jan. 16, 2015, at the Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Born in Inverness, he was the son of the late James and Penelope (MacLellan) Doyle.
Jimmy was a kind and gentle man. He had a very strong faith and was a member of the former St. Agnes parish, New Waterford. He retired from the steel plant after working there for 38 years and was a life time member of the New Waterford Knights of Columbus. He had a special love for his motor bike as he used it all year round and loved to go on drives to Inverness, Mabou, West Arichat.
Jimmy is survived by his sons James 'Jimmy' (Ann), Scotchtown, Francis, New Waterford, Gerard (Cece), New Victoria; sisters Florence Bois, New Waterford, Teresa MacKenzie, S.W. Margaree, Toodie, Ottawa, Anne, New Brunswick and brother Peter Coady. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Jamie, Teresa, Leon, Francis Jr., Sandy, Jason, Shelby, Brett, Jolene and seven great- grandchildren Bryanna, Emily, Alyssa, Abbey, Hayden, Jace and Emma.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife Teresa (McIsaac) and his second wife Yvonne (Finander), sister Mary Burns, brothers Kyte, Johnny, Henry, Joe and a sister in infancy.
Visitation will take place today (Monday, Jan. 19, 2015) from 5-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the KOC, Plummer Avenue. All are welcome.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
Donations in Jimmy’s memory can be made to the Stella Marsh Church, Inverness and the An Cala Palliative Care Unit.
