MACKIN, FREDERICK JOSEPH - With heavy hearts, the family of Frederick J. Mackin announce his peaceful passing on Saturday, January 18, 2015 at the St. John-St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, NB, on December 2, 1931, he is the son of the late James and Mary (Joyce) Mackin and loving husband of 49 years to Iva (Fullerton) Mackin. Fred worked for the N.B.L.C.C. for 32 years until his retirement in 1992 and he was a life-long parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Fred was a good husband and father. He enjoyed harness racing and had a quick sense of humour. He will be missed. In addition to his beloved wife Iva, Fred is survived by his son Jamie Mackin (Holly), Calgary, AB.; daughters Margaret Wright (Paul), Saint John and Kelly Mackin, Ajax, On; grandchildren Dylan, Matthew, Taylor and Laura, as well as , several extended family and friends. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Roy and sister Margaret Smith
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visiting Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial for Fred will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception at 12:10 pm Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
