Mary Elizabeth Comeau (Edstrom)

Age 77, passed peacefully away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. Patrick's Mercy Home. Mary was born on February 28, 1937 in Renews to Selina and Thomas Edstrom. Her love, pride and lasting memories of her childhood home and family were a source of great joy. After moving to Gander in her late teens Mary met her sweetheart, Paul Comeau and they were married in 1958. Together, Mary and Paul raised Wayne and Bob. Her greatest joy was family and friends. Mary's unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family carried her through the last few years. Throughout her life Mary maintained a sweet and simple demeanor and a constant nurturing love. She is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Jim and Phillip and infant sister Elizabeth. Leaving to mourn with beautiful memories are Paul, Wayne (Lynne) and Bob. She will be missed dearly by her precious grandson Alex on whom she bestowed her wonderful, enormous love. Also mourning her passing are her sister Mona Ryan, sisters-in-law Leona Edstrom and Lorraine (Alfred) Comeau. She was adored by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary was easy to love. Special thanks for the kindness shown to her by nieces Karen and Renee. Thanks to all the nurses and LPN's of 3 East; and all the support staff of St. Patrick's Mercy Home for making her stay there so comfortable. Cremation has taken place at her request. Visitation at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, January 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held from St. Pius X on Tuesday, January 20 at 9:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
