It is with great sadness we wish to announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother, Rebecca Roper on January 19, 2015 at the Maple Hill Manor where she has resided for a number of years.
Born in Scotland on May 24, 1914 she was the last surviving member of her family. Rebecca was the daughter of the late Robert and Agnes (Carson) Corrigan.
Rebecca loved to bake, only to give it away, was an avid bingo player and no matter what the weather was like, she had to get there. She was a lovely lady and everyone who met and knew her can attest to that.
She is survived by her son Bobby and daughter Norma MacKenzie; grandchildren Bruce, Tommy, Sherry and Rhonda; many great-grandchildrn and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband Arthur Roper, she was also predeceased by sisters Elizabeth, Mary, Agnes; brothers Harry, Ludovic and Robert, son-in-law Rennie, daughter-in-law Sadie; grandson Renford and granddaughter Noreen.
Cremation has taken place and a service of celebration of Rebecca’s life will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church, Hudson St. with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating, burial in Union Grove Cemetery followed by a reception in the Reverend Duncan Roach Fellowship room.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500. Our thanks to Maple Hill Manor and all the staff who took such good care of mom while she was residing there.
