We, the family, announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.
Bridget was born in Holyrood, NFLD., Nov. 11, 1921, and passed away at the MacGillivray Guest Home on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Mom was the daughter of the late Frank and Sara (Timmons) O’Rourke and was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Charlie in 1998.
‘Bride’, a longtime resident of 84 French St. Whitney Pier, was the devoted mother and matriarch of her large family. She was always supportive of her children’s extensive sporting and educational activities. She was also a devout member of Holy Redeemer parish, actively involved in the CWL. Mom particularly enjoyed family gatherings where her love and kindness were evident. She was an unselfish, caring woman whose smile and sense of humour would light up any gathering. She enjoyed cooking a ‘scoff’ for her clan and their guests, often on a moment’s notice, and her generosity was extended to all who entered her home. She especially enjoyed her ‘Club’ and playing cards.
Bridget was predeceased by her daughter Ann Marie McNabb; her son Al; her granddaughter Sara; sister Catherine; brothers Jack and Phil as well as her stepmother Susannah Hollohan.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Donnie) Miller with whom she previously resided; sons Ray, Chuck (Pat), Jerry (Arlene), Donnie, Terry (Nancy); daughter-in-law Nancy; son-in-law Sandy McNabb; her sister Margaret ‘Peg’ (Charles) Carrie of Oshawa, ON; by her 12 grandchildren, Cristin, David, Jenna, Tara, Jessica, Shannon, Joanna, Liam, Ashley, Meagan, Emma, Ryan; her 4 great grandchildren, Cole, Caden, Rebecca and Rachael. Mom is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Kathleen O’Rourke, Hattie O’Rourke and Bonnie (Gordie MacDonald); brother-in-law John and in-laws: Pat, Margie, Elizabeth Drohan, and Claude Royal.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Drohan will be Wednesday, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Redeemer Church with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating with interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
