MAGARVEY, MICHAEL ARCHIBALD - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Michael Magarvey of Saint John announces his death, which occurred on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Middleton, NS on March 1, 1948, he was the son of the late Frederick and Jean (Robson) Magarvey. Mike began his working career at Saint John Ship Building and finished with Irving Oil after 35 years of employment. He took great comfort in his daily leisurely drives as well as spending time with his friends at Tim Hortons. Mike also enjoyed photography, model boats and traveling. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Mike is survived by his daughters, Mindy Magarvey (Paul Sproul) of Lower Sackville, NS and Kimberley Magarvey (Michael Babott) of Airdrie, AB; brother, Eric Magarvey (Pam) of Rothesay; companion, Sharon O’Dell of Saint John; nieces, Christa and Catherine; nephews, Scott and James and their families; close family friends The McCue’s along with numerous other friends and his canine companion, Buddy. In addition to his parents, Mike was also predeceased by his wife, Jane (Chalifour) Magarvey and sister, Margot Sears. The family would like to thank Dr. Andre LeRoux, Loop D and the staff of 4B South for the exceptional care, direction and support over the last four months.
Following cremation, visitations will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Wednesday, January 21 from 7 to 9 PM and Thursday, January 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, January 23, 2015, at 12:00 Noon. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the John T.
