Stanley Melanson

MELANSON, STANLEY - Stanley Melanson passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on January 20, 2015. He was born in Saint John, NB on August 18, 1925 to the late Daniel and Ellen (Jack) Melanson. Following his education at Saint John High School, Stan went to work for Standard Brands as a salesman for central and northern New Brunswick, and three years later was transferred to Halifax, NS as a Branch Manager. From there he went to Ottawa, ON as a Sales Supervisor for northern Ontario, followed by a move to their head office as a Product Manager. Three years later he joined Clairol Canada as Vice-President of Marketing. 16 years later he retired and with his wife, Clarice, returned to New Brunswick and their cottage at Harvey Lake, where they spent the summers, while wintering for twenty-two years in Florida, playing golf with his many friends. His greatest pleasure was having his family and grandchildren at the lake, watching them have fun and grow over the years. In 2006, he and his wife moved to Fredericton, thus ending many years of travel throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Europe, China, New Zealand and Australia, as well as enjoying several cruises in the Caribbean, Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands. Stan is survived by Clarice, his wife of 65 years; daughter, Lynn Melanson and her two children, Kira and Brian Vrouvas of Montreal, QC and son, Gary (Janet) Melanson and their three boys, Timothy, Andrew and Stephen all of Woodstock, NB. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Ruby and Pearl Wilson of McAdam, NB and Vernice Melanson of Saint John, NB, plus several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Stan was predeceased by brothers, Albert (Bert) Gordon and Edward (Ted) James Melanson, as well as brothers-in law, Arleigh Wilson and Herbert Wilson, both of McAdam, NB.
At his request there will be no services. A private family interment at the Harvey Community Cemetery will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Stan’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be left at www.mcadamsfh.com.
