SMITH, RICHARD DAVID - The family of Richard David Smith of Fredericton, NB are saddened to announce his passing on January 18, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital at the age of 64. Richard was the son of Hilda Smith of Fredericton and the late George Smith. Besides his mother, Richard is survived by his children, Richelle Plumstead, David Smith and Denise Ogon; his grandchildren, Morgan Smith, Brianne and Brandon Ogon; his brother, Stephen and his sister, Hilary; nephew, Joel and step-daughter, Angela Greene. He is also survived by his long time companion, Myrna Greene. Besides his father, Richard was predeceased by his sister, Marion and wife, Anne. Over the years Richard pursued a career in sales and management both here in Fredericton as well as in the Northwest Territories and Alberta, retiring back in his native Fredericton in 2005. Richard was a man of many interests including writing songs and playing them on his guitar for his delighted fans; he also loved to play golf and loved his two pekes. The family wants to express their sincerest thanks to Drs. D. Gowan, Anan and Wood and all the staff of the palliative care unit for their professionalism and kindness while in their care.
At Richard's request there will be no visitations or service. Donations may be made to the Chalmers Regional Hospital Foundation, Fredericton SPCA or to the charity of the donor's choice.
