G. Richard Langmaid

LANGMAID, G. RICHARD - The passing of G. Richard Langmaid of Fredericton, NB, husband of Bertha (Gautreau) Langmaid, occurred on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 23, 1947 in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late George “Mike” and Joyce (Clarke) Langmaid. Richard retired in 2005 after serving 38 years with NB Power. Richard thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years spending time at his trailer at Horizon Trailer Park in Point du Chene, NB. He was a member of the Pine Needles Gold Club and the Capital Winter Curling Club. Up until his illness he and his wife, Bertha spent part of the winter in St. Petersburg Florida attending PGA Golf Tournaments and NHL hockey games. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Married to his wife and best friend for 47 years, Richard graduated from Fredericton High School in 1965. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Denine (Frank) of Perth Andover, NB and son, Michael Langmaid (Anne) of Fall River, NS; six grandchildren, Frankie, Kevin, Richard, Melanie, Marc and Luc; brothers, Larry Pugh (Agnes) of Aurora, ON and Garry Pugh (Susan) of Orleans, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his birth mother, Vesta Pugh and brother, Frank Langmaid.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11 am with Father John Jennings as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. Please no flowers by request, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Lung Association or the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.
