Dorothy Laite
Passed on: January 21st, 2015
Dorothy Laite, 65, passed away peacefully at the L.A. Miller Center on Jan. 21st, 2015 after a long, brave battle with breast cancer. Born in St. Brendan's and growing up in Portugal Cove, Dorothy was a source of love, kindness and inspiration to all that had the privilege of knowing her. She always gave of herself, expecting nothing in return. Her love in life was family and dear friends, never worldly possessions. She was the definition of love and selflessness, and the world was truly blessed to have her as long as it did. She is predeceased by parents Patrick and Margaret Broderick, brothers Cyril and Bern, and sisters Madeline and Catherine. She is survived by her husband, John, sons John and Mark, daughter Cheryl and son-in-law, Dan, as well as siblings Hugh and Laura, sisters-in-law Rosanne, Jesse and Marina, loving nieces Linda (and Bill) Rose, Charlotte (and Bud) Butler, Cheryl, Ashley, Brittany, Shirley, Darlene, Teri, Lori, Bernadette, Vina, Marina and nephews Pat (and Carolyn) Hammond, Joseph, Jim, Michael, Edward, Corey, David, cousin-in-law and dear friend Jack Kavanagh, and very special friends, Brenda and Jackie. Viewing will be held at Caul's Funeral home on LeMarchant Rd. in St. John's this Saturday and Sunday, from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services are arranged at Holy Rosary parish in Portugal Cove for Monday, Jan.26th, at 2 pm followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre RC Cemetery on Topsail Road.
Her strength and courage are unsurpassed, and her love shall endure even past death. Dorothy Laite ... mom ... you shall be dearly, dearly missed, and always in our hearts.
