Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 10th of January, 2015 Mrs. Caroline Gibbons Sr. of Pond Cove in her 90th year. Caroline was born in Pond Cove on Nov. 14, 1924 to Walter and Amelia Coombs of Current Island, NL. She married Guy Gibbons on May 15th of 1946. Together they had four children. Caroline was a loving, caring and kind-hearted woman who loved her family dearly. She loved to knit, cook and feed everyone who visited her home. Always room for more in her home, she loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart and treated them like gold. Left to mourn are her sons Walter (Caroline), and John (Nancy Ann); daughter Ruby Sr. (Philemon); grandchildren Amelia (Scott), Virginia (Paul), Ruby (Darrol), and Guy (Kylie); great-grandchildren Hope, Belle, Jacey as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Guy, daughter Virginia, great-grandson PG, mother Amelia, and father Walter. Visitation was held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14 January with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating. Burial followed at the Anglican Cemetery on Current Island. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
