Passed peacefully on Thursday, January 15th at the age of 88. Predeceased by her parents Ethel Amy (nee King) and Hezekiah Ploughman and her husband Wilfred, Mildred will be greatly missed by her brother Harry Ploughman (Rena), her five children Patricia Morris (Glen), Jacquelyn Neehuis (Gary Simmons), Brian Hookey, Lisa Millen (John), and Lynanne Beaufield (Gary); and her six grandchildren Michael Neehuis, Shannon Hookey, Liam Millen, Stephanie Hookey, Sean Hookey and Mariah Millen. A teacher, poet, scholar, dreamer, traveller, artist, romantic, and an avid reader - Mildred will never be forgotten by any who knew her. Born in Brooklyn NY, and raised in Port Rexton, Newfoundland, she worked as a teacher in Newfoundland (Pinchard's Island and Isle aux Morts) before moving to Toronto after WWII, marrying and raising her children. Mildred was cremated on Monday January 19th. A private family celebration of her life will take place on Sunday, February 15th.
