It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Samuel Bailey on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in Glace Bay.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Margaret (Bailey) McGrath.
Ronnie worked at Hyland Motors, 4 Star Mine, Phalen and No. 26 Colliery. He was a great outdoors man; he loved to fish, hunt and drive his A.T.V. in the wilderness. Ronnie also belonged to the Colliery Bowling League.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda (Yates) Bailey; one son, Brendan (Kerri), Delta, B.C.; one daughter, Lisa, Surrey, B.C.; three precious grandchildren, Curtis, Chelsey and Jessica, whom he was so proud of and deeply loved.
Ronnie was survived by a sister, Valerie (Robin) West, Sackville, N.S.; Aunt, Martha Bailey, Donkin; brothers-in-law, Louie (Geri), Weldy (Joan), Robin (Valerie); sisters-in-law, Betty McGrath, Jackie Brann, Isabel Yates and Barbara Yates.
Besides his mother, Ronnie was predeceased by a brother, Barry and a sister, Pamela.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 6- 9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Norman McPhee is Monday, 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
