FOLEY, JOHN JOSEPH
John Joseph “Tim” Foley of Ridgewood Veterans Hospital, formerly of Alward Street passed away on Friday, January 23rd, 2015.
Born in Saint John, February of 1929 he was the son of the late Timothy and Mary (Tobin) Foley. John served in the infantry during the Korean War with the PPCLI “Princess Pats”. He was a former Legion Member of Legion Branch # 2 and received his 65 year member pin, Branch #69; member of the Carlton Curling Club and former member of the Adanac Association. John’s career at Canada Post spanned 32 years, retiring in 1985 as Postmaster. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with his wife Margaret.
Devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Margaret (Kelly) Foley of Quispamsis, sons Dr. Timothy F. (Charlene) of London, ON, William J. (Susan) of Saint John, Gerald V. (Nancy) of Saint John and Paul S. (Dawn-Marie) of Ottawa, ON; daughter Mary Ellen Gray (Ralph) of Quispamsis; brother. Vincent of Montreal, PQ; sister Sister Constance Foley of Saint John; brother-in-law Bill Morrison of Miramichi; ten grandchildren Patrick, Duncan, Martha, Mark, Neil, Margaret, Annie, Mary, Elizabeth and John; nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, Tim was predeceased by brother Donald Foley, sister Agnes Morrison and grandson Kevin Gray.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Due to Tuesdays weather conditions, Funeral Mass will be held from St. Pius X Catholic Church, 316 Somerset Street on Wednesday January 28th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception. Private family interment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in John’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Ridgewood Veterans Hospital or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
