Originally of Portugal Cove South. Passed away at the L.A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit on Saturday, January 24, 2015 after a year long battle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband John Dierney. Left to mourn are children Bob (Jacinta), Linda Furlong (Barry), Anne, Lorraine Whelan (Chris), Marnie (Dave Aker), Shelley and Jim (Kim); grandchildren Stephanie, Mari-Lynne and Jonathan (Niki Henderson) Sinnott; John (Beth Carter), Jasmine (Abuchi Ezurike) and Justin (Nicole MacIsaac) Furlong; Stephen (Kayla Hogan), Eddie and Ian (Allura Bartlett) Whelan; Courtney and Tim Aker; Daniel, Joshua and Sarah Sinnott; great grandchild Emma Whelan; brother-in-law Harry Hartery and many nieces and nephews. Thanks to all the medical professionals for the care she has received in the past year, especially Doctors Iqbal and Hillman, and nurses from St. Clare's, the Health Sciences Complex and the L.A. Miller Centre's Palliative Care team. Special thanks also to Fr. Leo English for the pastoral care he has provided. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 1 p.m. from St. Teresa's Church. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation may be made in her memory to the Gathering Place or to a charity of one's choice.
