BRUSH, Bernard James - 80 formerly of Wellington,Yarmouth Co. passed away January 21, 2015 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on January 5, 1935 in Yarmouth Nova Scotia he was a son of the late Henry Edward Brush and Ruth Smith. Bernard worked 35 years with the Nova Scotia Light and Power. Bernie was born and raised in Southend, Yarmouth. In his spare time he enjoyed cooking, gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He is leaving behind five children; David Brush; Catherine (Robert Jr.) Purdy, Rockville; Joy (James) Nicholson, Calgary; Beverly (Donald) LeBlanc, Wedgeport; Brenda (Chris) DeViller, Melbourne; sisters, Olive (Burt ) Wilson, Ottawa; Joyce (Harris) Smith, Yarmouth; Gloria (Steve) Meuse, Wellington; brothers, Gordon (Eleanor) Brush, Brooklyn; Hubert Brush; brother-in-law, Micky Pothier, St. John, NB; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and special friend Adeline Boudreau. Besides his parents Bernard was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Mona Brush; sister, Mary Pothier and brother Hubert. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1 p.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m. all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment will follow at a later date in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
