It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Jill on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at home with her family by her side.
Born in Fredericton, N.B. on Nov. 29, 1952, Jill was the daughter of Iona (Crouse) Merrithew and the late Lowell Merrithew.
Also, she is survived and cherished by her sisters, Anne Merrithew, Saint John, Gail Waugh (Duane), Lower Coverdale and Joy Barrington (Bruce), Sydney, N.S. Jill will be dearly missed as well by her nieces and nephews, Shawn Waugh (Lisa), Michelle Waugh (Ray Wilson), Steven Waugh (Amanda), Scott Waugh (Carla), all of the Moncton area, Laura White (Ainslie), Jonathan Stevens, Troy Stevens (Taylor Mitchell), all of the Halifax area, and by several grandnieces and nephews. Also survived by her stepbrother, Doug Falkenham (Gale), Truro, N.S. and her stepsister, Nancy McDonald (Larry), Denver, Colorado.
Jill loved her work at Zellers through Jobs Unlimited for over 25 years making many friends, after which time she enjoyed many happy hours at the Jobs Unlimited Workshop. Tuesday evenings she loved venturing out to her Drop-In Group with special thanks going to Nancy Esau. Jill enjoyed her cards, her DVDs, dancing to her music and her regular visits to Tim Horton’s with her Mom. She also looked forward to her many family gatherings. We were so blessed to have Jill in our lives. She was our “Sunshine”.
Thank you to all the special people who spent time with Jill and treasured her as we have and helped her along the way. She will be dearly missed. Jill was predeceased by her loving father, Lowell Merrithew (1993) who shared a special bond with her. Also predeceased by her stepfather, Gerry Falkenham (2006).
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd., Fredericton, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at 3 p.m. from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in the Mouth of Keswick Cemetery in the spring.
