Muriel Tooley

Muriel Lureina Tooley
November 4, 1919 – January 18, 2015
Muriel passed away peacefully in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on January 18, 2015 at the age of 95 years. She was born in Unity, SK, and moved to Saskatoon after high school to further her education and work. She was a skilled hairdresser but changed careers and became the office manager at Canada Packers Ltd. While in Saskatoon she met Raymond H. Tooley, a young WWII veteran from Prince Albert just finishing his engineering degree. After being married the couple embarked on a journey across Canada. Ray built industrial plants and Muriel managed their home and growing family. They returned to Prince Albert in 1969 to finish their careers and retire in the city. Muriel was first and foremost passionate about her family and making sure her children and grandchildren had the best possible start in life. She was tireless and selfless in supporting them at every stage of their lives and was always there for them. She was an excellent homemaker and especially loved gardening. She volunteered in the community visiting veterans, delivering Meals-on-Wheels, and working at the Thrift Store. She was awarded the Ladies Auxiliary Lifetime Membership of the Royal Canadian Legion. As a lifelong learner she was always reading, enjoying documentaries and keeping up to date with world events and news. She enthusiastically adopted new technology and used personal computers from the very beginning and then into the Internet age. Well into her 80s she was still conferencing, browsing, googling, and emailing every day. Muriel will be remembered and missed by: her son Raymond (Estelle Hamoline) of Niagara Falls, ON and their children Leonard and Jane (Ming); her daughter Lureina (Eric Friesen) of White Rock, BC and her daughter Natalie (Tristan); her son Donald of Vancouver, BC and his sons Clayton and Donald; her sister-in-law Nora Aydt of Prince Albert; her brother-in-law Terence Tooley of Prince Albert and numerous nieces and nephews. Muriel was predeceased by her parents Pansy and Clayton McNichol; her husband of 53 years, Raymond; her sister Helen Imrie; her sisters-in-law Kaye Giles, Phyllis Tooley, Deirdre Brophy, and Barbara Tooley; her brothers-in-law Bob Imrie, Sandy Macsymic, Arnold Giles, Desmond Tooley, Arnold Aydt, and David Brophy. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Kopera's Care Home and the Herb Bassett Home for the compassionate and dedicated care they gave to Muriel. A Memorial Gathering was held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St. E, Prince Albert, SK. Interment is planned at the South Hill Cemetery in the summer of 2015. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium. Brian and Bev Stobbs, Funeral Directors. 306.763.8488 www.MacKenzieChapel.ca
