Caldwell, Clarence Henry - age 91, of Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., passed away peacefully Saturday, January 24, 2015 at home. Born on August 10, 1923 he was a son of the late Ralph and Ada (Ettinger) Caldwell. Clarence worked for the Domtar in MacKay Section and Armstrong’s Mill in Three Mile Plains. He also drove the last team of horses that were used in the Wentworth Quarry, delivering fuel and dynamite. He enjoyed doing gardens in the community with his work horses and would be seen in the area walking, piling wood and waving to those going by. Clarence was very active in the Pentecostal Holiness Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing his guitar and singing at the church or along with his son, John and grandson, Jason. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Anne (Leopold); sons, Marshall (Darlene), Saint John, NB; John (Glenna), Brooklyn and Charles (Susan), Three Mile Plains; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Wile, Falmouth; half-sister, Sharon Pratt, Truro; brother, Paul (Lynn) Caldwell, Newport Station; half-brother, William “Billy” and David Whitehurst; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mabel Hart, Jean Barkhouse, and Mary Wile; brothers, Ronald “John”, Herman and Halley; granddaughter, Brenda Elaine. Arrangements were entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, January 29. A funeral service was held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 30 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Marshall Caldwell officiated. Interment was held Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Donations in memory of Clarence may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
