The death occurred at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, of Roger Garnet MacDonald of Summerside, formerly of O’Leary, husband of the late Julia (Gallant) MacDonald, aged 94 years. Born April 14, 1920 in Mount Royal, son of the late Neil and Iva (Dennis) MacDonald. Dear uncle to the children Roger and Julia raised Blaine (Doreen) MacDonald, Timberlea, NS; Gale Getson, Summerside; Candace MacDonald, Bridgewater, NS; Wendy (Peter) McAleer, Kensington; Wade (Angela) MacDonald, Brooklyn; Brett (Valerie) MacDonald, Moncton NB; Sonya (Brian) Ramsay, Summerside; and Bentley MacDonald (Judy Rodgerson), O’Leary, and to several grand-nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by his parents, wife Julia (2004), nephews Dennis MacDonald, Kaye and Kevin Weir, brothers Don and Brent MacDonald and sisters Ferne (Jack) Weir and Noreen Robbins. Resting at Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary, with visiting hours on Friday, Jan. 30, from 1 until the time of the funeral at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Interment to follow in Bloomfield United Church Cemetery. In memory of Roger, memorials to the O’Leary Community Health Foundation or the O’Leary United Church would be appreciated.
