It is with deep sadness that we announce Roxanne’s passing on Jan. 27, 2015 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Dartmouth, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Rosella (Thomas) MacKenzie
As a child she attended the Bridgeport School System in Glace Bay and later the Breton Beauty Academy in Sydney and practiced her profession in Glace Bay and Alberta.
After her marriage to Calvin she relocated to Northern Alberta and persued multiple lines of work, retiring due to poor health. She moved to Dartmouth for health reasons during the summer of 2014.
She is survived by her loving husband, Calvin; her devoted and caring daughter, Chayna MacKenzie (Cody); loving stepdaughter, Francine Ransome; granddaughter, Carrera and grandson, Broady; brothers, Peter (Shelly) and Aubrey; sisters and brother in B.C., along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Terri and her birth mother, Shirley.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 from 1-2 p.m. Memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m., also at the funeral home. Fr. Norman McPhee presiding.
Donations in Roxanne’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The family would like to thank Thelma Burta for her kind and devoted care of Roxanne these past many months. Special thanks to Dr. Yung and Dr M. F. Moriarty along with the DGH intensive care staff.
