HODGE, GEORGE ROBERT
The passing of George Robert Hodge, of Fredericton, NB, husband of Barbara (Chambers) Hodge, occurred on January 29, 2015 at York Care Centre.

Born on May 16, 1938 in Lord’s Cove, NF, he was a son of the late Leonard and Lillian Hodge. George worked for Lebeau Glass then Standard Auto Glass until his retirement in 1980. He served in the army for 9 years, serving in Germany, Petawawa, ON, Bordon, ON and Gagetown, NB and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 15, Marysville.

Besides his wife, George is survived by his son, Peter Hodge of Fredericton NB; daughters, Pamela Leavitt (Terry) of Utopia, NB and Cheryl Boies (Eric Doucette) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, James, Lesley, Janelle, Patrick, Zachary and Kendra; great grandchildren, Ryder, Jack, Brennan, Nathaniel and Abbygail; brothers, Francis Hodge (Sherry) of Pickering, ON and Claude Hodge (Margaret) of Lord's Cove, NF; sisters, Magdalene Slaney (Carlo) of Marystown, NF, Lucy Hodge – Corrigan (Hugh Clark) of Carbonear, NL, Jessie Hillier (Edgar) of Brooks, AB, Esther Harnett (Joe) of Whitby, ON, Emily Haley (Bill) of Oshawa, ON and Catherine Brewer of St. Lawrence, NF; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Leonard and brother-in-law, Francis Brewer.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 15 are asked to assemble at the funeral home for a Legion Tribute Service at 7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11 am with Father Aaron Knox officiating. Honourary Pallbearers will be Leslie Smith, Derle Deleavey, Richard Murphy, Larry Brown, Carl Oakley, Bob Clowater and Weldon Chase. Interment will take place at Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
