1932 - 2015
Guy J. Leger, 82, of Moncton, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Villa Providence in Shédiac. Born on June 1, 1932 in Memramcook, he was the son of the late Eloi and Sara (Cormier) Leger.
Prior to his retirement, Guy was a maintenance supervisor for School District 13. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Unité Mgr Melanson, a founding member of the Knights of Columbus Club Louis Hébert Council 6468 and the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Golden Age Club. He volunteered many hours with the Knights of Columbus, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, the Canadian Council of the blind as a score keeper as well as local food banks.
He is survived by three children: Georges (Robin), Paul (Jeannine) and Charlotte, all of Moncton; four grandchildren: Mathieu, Mélanie, Christine and Douglas; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Flora Surette (1990); five sisters and brothers: Eliane, Anita, Léo-Paul, Benoit and Lorenzo.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 10 am until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Roman Catholic Church, 854 Mountain Road, Moncton on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
