It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Josie MacNeil, 93, on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Ellen (Steele) Hood.
Josie was a well-known member of the staff at the Medical Hall Drug Store on Commercial Street in North Sydney, having worked there for over 18 years. For the past several years she has been a resident of Central Court Homes on Stanley Street. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney.
Josie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mabel MacNeil of Boularderie, her two grandsons, Roddie and Jeffrey and by her sister Alice Stevenson.
She was predeceased by her husband Roddie MacNeil, her two sons, John and Paul MacNeil, her sisters, Florence, Sr. Miriam Paula as well as brothers, John, Billy, Alphonse, Roddie, Alexander and William.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery.
