Donald Archibald MacIsaac, age 92 of New Glasgow and formerly of Sunny Brae, passed away in the Aberdeen Hospital on Sunday, February 1, 2015 after a brief illness.
He was the eighth of a family of 15 born to John James and Annie Laurie (MacLean) MacIsaac of Little Judique, Cape Breton.
Donald worked for many years for Irving Oil Ltd. as a furnace installer and repairs, he took great pride in his work. He lived most of his married life in Sunny Brae before moving to New Glasgow. Donald enjoyed listening to fiddle music.
He is survived by a daughter Faye (Donald) Hicks, Pictou; sons Eldridge (Carolyn) MacIsaac, Durham; Randall (Dolly) MacIsaac, Churchville; grandchildren: Kelly, Shara Lee, Duane, Shelley, Janice, Glenn, Carleen, James and Chelsea; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister Mary MacIsaac, Dartmouth; brothers Ben and Jerome, both of Ontario; sisters-in-law Helen (Jack) Roberts and Catherine (John) Muise; brother-in-law Simon (Betty) Fraser; also many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 71 years in June 2014, Bessie Agnes (Fraser) MacIsaac; and his siblings: Annie Catherine, Peggy, Sadie, John Rory, Joe, Tena, Rachael, Rannie, Theresa, David and Leo; sister-in-law Isobel (Harold) Hambleton; brothers-in-law Bob (Joyce) Fraser and Bill McCrate.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. from the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. A reception will follow the service in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Sunny Brae Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Donald may be made to the Sunny Brae Cemetery.
Many thanks to the paramedics, emergency doctors and nurses and especially Angela of Intensive Care for the excellent care. Thanks also to Chrissie of East River Manor for being so good to our dad.
