It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Francis Joseph 'Frank' Jones, 85, on Feb. 2, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, N.S.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late William and Catherine Jones.
In earlier years, Frank drove for both Kim's and Midway Taxi in town and at one time was employed at a car dealership in Boston, Mass. He loved fiddle music and listening to Donnie Morrison every Sunday on the radio. Frank also loved to watch boxing and football as well as sit out on his step and read the newspaper.
Surviving are his son, Joe, New Waterford; sister Teresa (Bob) MacNeil, Sydney; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his loving wife, Sophie (Michalik) Jones; brothers, Billy, Jimmie, Alex and Pius; sisters, Mary, Kaye, Bertha, Lizzie, Rita and Anna.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford.
