GLADYS LINNEA (LARSON) STRUCK
July 27th, 1922- January 23rd, 2015
Gladys passed away peacefully at Providence Place in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She was born to Selma and Louis Larson Jr. on her family farm located south of Riverhurst, SK next door to Liberty Hall. Gladys was raised on the farm with her brother and 4 sisters. In 1942, Gladys went to Regina with her cousin, Edna Gustafson, to work. She later went to Moose Jaw to work at Eaton's lunch counter and then the Bus Depot. Moose Jaw is where she came to know her future husband Denis and a place she always thought of as home. Denis and Gladys were married in Saskatoon in 1956. From there they moved to Mission, BC, where the family became three with the welcome addition of daughter Barbara. After a few more moves, they settled on Denis' family farm at Pilger, SK where they welcomed a son, Pat. In 1967, Gladys, Denis and family moved to the Larson farm where they remained until retiring to Moose Jaw in 1990. Gladys enjoyed her time in Moose Jaw walking to and from the mall, window shopping and observing the many faces of friendly people. Gladys particularly loved Crescent Park and the music stage that provided the sounds for song and dance. In 2012, Gladys moved to Providence Place. In her new home, Gladys' love for music and singing carried on. You were often greeted by song when you went to visit her. Her “new family”, in the home, enjoyed and welcomed Gladys and her love of music. If there was any musical entertainment, you could be certain to find Gladys nearby singing and tapping her toes to the tunes. She was predeceased by her parents, Selma and Louis Jr.; brothers, Eugene and Edvin; sisters: Mabel Carrie, Hilda, Lillian and Mabel; and granddaughters, Kristen and Kathy. Gladys leaves to mourn: her husband of almost 59 years, Denis; daughter, Barbara (Wallace) Haile; son, Pat (Patty-May) Struck; grandchildren: Thomas (Arcela) Haile, Sean (Adele) Haile, Jessica Haile, Aaron (Magie) Struck, Blaine Struck and Kyle Struck; great-grandchildren, Ryder and Ayden Struck, and Mazie Haile; sister, Doris (Harry) Daniels; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. At Gladys’ request, there will be no formal service. As she always said, “I've had a good life—no complaints. Roll out the barrel. See you in the movies!” Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
