Ira Elliott

Ira MacKenzie Elliott, age 85, of Toney River, Pictou County, passed away on February 3rd, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Ira was born on September 3rd, 1929 at Seafoam, to the late James Hugh and Hazel Mae (Cotter) Elliott.
He owned and operated Elliott’s Esso Service Station in Toney River for a number of years and fished for 33 years harvesting lobster, herring, tuna, scallops, smelts, eels and Irish moss.
He is survived by wife, the former Betty Johnson and nine children: Connie (Keith) MacKenzie, Westville; Janet (Gordon) MacLean, Woodburn; Millie Grant, Berwick; Ruth Woodacre, Caribou River; Brian (Jayne),Three Brooks; Catherine (Cameron) Fraser, Halifax; Clifford (Ruthie), Toney River; Charles (Marcy) Poplar Hill; Allan (Korrine), Scotsburn; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Dan (Janet), Seafoam.
Ira was predeceased by his sister, Agnes Cameron and son-in-law Wayne Woodacre.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday from St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River. Interment in Riverbank Cemetery, Toney Mills.
Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Riverbank Cemetery or the Pictou County V.O.N.
