Mildred Marie Hooper

Born In: Sydney

Passed in: Halifax, Canada
Passed on: February 1st, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Marie Hooper surrounded by her loving family on Feb. 1, 2015 in Halifax, N.S.
Born in Sydney, Millie was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Anne (MacRae) Keough.
She started her working life as a lab technician at the Sydney City Hospital. With her fondness for children, she later operated Busy Bee Child Care Centre, and she continued to provide child care for many years. She married her loving husband, Neil ‘Buddy’ Hooper, and they raised their family in Sydney River. Millie spent many happy summers at their cottage in Boisdale where she always welcomed her cherished family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey and Neil, her daughter-in-law, Colleen, her grandchildren, Corinne, Kevin and Shawn, her brothers, Andrew ‘Buddy’ and David Keough and many relatives and friends who were all dearly loved.
Millie was predeceased by her husband, Buddy, her sisters, Helen ‘Tootsie’ Dwyer, Evelyn Murphy, Rita Costello, Mary ‘Tillie’ Campbell, Lorraine Brookman, Rose Duff, Bernice Campbell and her brother, Maurice Keough.
For the past two years, Millie lived in Halifax where she was near her family. We are very grateful to the wonderful staff of Northwood Bedford Ivany Place for the love and care provided to her.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney. Funeral service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Sydney River United Protestant Church with Reverend Dana Feltmate officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place at a later date.
