Lillian Saunderson

SAUNDERSON, LILLIAN GLADYS (ROONEY)
Lillian Saunderson, born March 31st, 1911 passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2015 at York Care Centre.
The only daughter of the late Winford and Florence Rooney, she was predeceased by her husband Harry Saunderson, brothers Cecil, Everett and Harold Rooney, her two daughters Eileen Vaudry and Lynn Miller and her sons-in-law Lloyd Smith and Stuart Vaudry.
She is survived by her daughter Ethel Smith and her son Harold Saunderson (Claire) of Fredericton, and a son-in-law Dr. David Miller of Carrollton Kentucky. She leaves behind thirteen loving grandchildren: Andrea, Lori, Harry Smith; Jeff and Doug Saunderson; Steven, John, Peter, and Beth Vaudry; Scott, Michael, John, and Greg Miller.
Lillian grew up in the Moncton area. Happily married for years, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a loyal friend. Her passion for music started at a young age and lasted throughout her life. Lillian loved to sing. She was active in choirs, played the piano and organ and often was asked to be a soloist at special events. She passed that love of music on to her children and grandchildren. Her deep commitment to the church and her community (IODE) earned her many friends. Lillian was a woman of warmth and good humour who brought a positive outlook to every situation.
Toward the end of her life Alzheimer’s stole much of the woman we loved and cherished. Even as this disease clouded her memory and made her reliant on others, Lillian retained key aspects of her personality. She still had a smile and a gracious manner.
The family would like to thank the extraordinary care given to Lillian over many years by the staff of the York Care Center.
A Private Family Graveside Service will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to York Foundation, 100 Sunset Drive, Fredericton, NB, would be appreciated. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
