Peacefully, on February 5, 2015, in his 101st year, with family at his side, at the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, Flying Officer William James Bruce, Second World War veteran pilot, slipped the surly bonds of earth, passing the controls to God to fly with His angels in the sky Dad loved so dearly. We will watch for you in every cloud Dad.
He is survived by his children: Jim (Sheila), Bedford, N.S.; Patricia, Cardigan; Linda (Bryson) Brown, Lethbridge, Alta.; John (Faye Drake), Stratford; and Nancy (Wade) MacPherson, St. Margarets Bay, N.S. Also survived by his six grandchildren: James, Michelle, Nigel, Becky, Tessa and Vanessa; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Tishanna, Biaggio, Emily, Nathan, Katie Carter, Zoe and Cameron.
Sadly predeceased by his wives, Alma (Beck) and Joan (Taylor-Ballum); as well as his beloved grandchildren, Heather Carnevale (Tony) and Kalen Brown.
He is also survived by his sisters, Frances “Fi” Campbell (Everett deceased), Sydney, Cape Breton, and Jeannie (Jack) Thiele, North River, Cape Breton.
Predeceased by his parents, Dr. James Bruce and Adelia (McLeod) Bruce.
No visitation by family request with a private committal service at a later date in the Clifton Cemetery, Bunbury.
If so desired, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the P.E.I. Alzheimer Society.
