It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Mary Goodwin age 80 of Amherst announce her sudden passing on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Centennial Villa, Amherst, NS.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of Lloyd and Beatrice (Amon) Downey.
Dorothy worked as a Licences Practical Nurse at the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville, NB, Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst and retired from Gables Nursing Home, Amherst.
She loved caring for the elderly both in her home and at work.
Dorothy loved attending the Amherst Revival Centre and enjoyed a personal relationship with God.
She is survived by 5 loving children, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by 2 sons, 1 brother, 1 sister and 2 husbands.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 – 3 p.m. followed by funeral service at 3 p.m. all in the Amherst Revival Centre with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating.
Interment will take place in the spring in the Amherst Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
