Della Marie Pedersen
September 23, 1935 – February 8, 2015

In a moment of grace, our star, Della Marie left this life on Sunday eve after 79 years of entertainment. She was a cherished mother to her four lovely daughters: Robyn, Lana, Penny, Pam, and step-children Leighton and Lana; was the fun-loving sister to six brothers and sisters: Leone, Elvin, Larry, Anne, Gloria, and Donna; sweet Aunt to her nieces and nephews; and beloved Grandmother, or rather “Grammy” to twelve grandchildren: Kari, Kim, Kent, Mathew, Scott, Rae, Shyler, Mikala, Ashley, Ian, Graham, and Tanner with six great-grandchildren and a seventh on the way. There wasn’t much that Dell couldn’t do and it was her determination and keen wit that allowed her to develop an impressive array of talents. From her days as a Beautician running her own business in Birch Hills, in her spare time she was known to get up on stage and do the can-can in her tassel dress, or pick up the guitar and sing a tune or two: the blonde haired beauty had musical talents that could have rivaled some of the best in Nashville. Daughter to Charles and Lillian Nelson, Della was raised in a modest country home; having grown up in the thirties and forties, she was the Jill-of-all-trades on the farm and when her Father said it was time to milk the cows, she’d wear those red rubber boots like a pair of red ruby slippers. Perhaps Dell’s proudest accomplishment was earning her nursing degree at the age of 37. For many years, Dell cared for the sick, working on the front line as an O.R. Nurse at Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert, dedicated, and loving every minute of it. The matriarch of her family, faith was important to Dell. She introduced her children to God and gave her spare time at the local Sunday school. Her selfless love emanated through her generosity and kind spirit and her display extended not only to those dear to her, but also to those in need. She was caregiver to her husband (Oscar Pedersen), parents, and the many patients whose hand she held in their final hours. Dell was an inspiration. She lived with courage and tenacity, all the while facing countless medical surgeries, each with bravery; never faltering in her faith. In life’s profound times of sorrow, she held her daughters and granddaughters. Dell was rooted and resilient never wishing to give up on life; and if her body were to give up on her then she looked forward to the day she would be reunited again with those she loved so much whom had gone before. Della Marie will be dearly missed and eternally loved. Please join us in celebrating our precious Dell on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11: 00 a.m. The celebration of her life will be held at Christ Church 515 28th St W Saskatoon. Following lunch, those who wish may join us on the journey to Prince Albert South Hill City Cemetery where we will lay Della Marie in her final resting place at 3:00 p.m. In memory of her, donations may be gifted to the new SK Children’s Hospital. “I’ll love you more than you’ll ever know.” To view this notice and share your memories, visit www.parkfuneral.ca “Obituaries and Tributes”.
